World food aid

There are many countries in the world that receive food aid, whether its because of factors such as frequent droughts or poverty. Although there are many countries that provide food aid to countries that are in need, the main benefactor, is America, who donate almost half the food to under-developed countries.

2008 saw 6.3 million metric tons of food being distributed to 82 countries worldwide. There are three types of world food aid that are distributed. These are 'Emergency Food Aid', 'Project Food Aid', and 'Programme Food Aid'.

With 16 percent of world food aid, Ethiopia is the country most in demand, as it suffers frequent droughts, deforestation, soil erosion, flood, poverty, plus a fall in world prices. All of these contribute to hardship in the country, and means that it needs the help of other countries.

World Food Aid shows that bigger countries can work together to help those that need it in their time of need.
